July 30, 2018 — Winnebago, Neb. – Flatwater Solutions, a subsidiary of the Flatwater Group, was awarded a sole source, six-month contract totaling $3 million under the authority of the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program. The scope of the contract included outfitting Indian Health Service’s (IHS) newly constructed Fort Yuma Health Care Center on the Fort Yuma Reservation in Winterhaven, Cal. The Flatwater Group is a division of Ho-Chunk, Inc., the socio-economic development corporation owned by the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
This is the first contract awarded to Flatwater Solutions as part of the larger $20 million IHS Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FFE) Services contract won by the company earlier this year.
The Indian Health Service, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, provides federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. The IHS is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for Indian people, and its goal is to raise their health care status to the highest possible level.
“The new Fort Yuma Health Care Center is a truly innovative design offering patient centered medical care, including dentistry, eye care, diagnostic imaging and laboratory, pharmacy, behavioral health, physical therapy, diabetes and wellness programs. It replaces one of the oldest IHS facilities in the system. We are proud to have been part of this project that at its heart, is designed to provide quality health care that meets the unique needs of our tribal communities,” said Phillip Brooking, Business Development Director, Flatwater Group.
